At Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, we never stop innovating. We are always looking for ways to make our programs stronger and involve more of the community in our mission.  With the help of a major program sponsor, we are expanding our reach while taking the fundraising burden off of the students. In addition, we will be able to offer financial literacy and mission advocacy courses for our middle schoolers who are not quite old enough to build. Help us breed a culture of giving back, starting with the young minds of LI.

Each year, nearly 40 high schools, colleges, and youth groups from Suffolk & Nassau Counties raise funds and participate in our annual Student Build program. Working alongside fellow classmates and the future homeowners on a Habitat project is a rewarding community service experience for the young people who volunteer their time to help families move out of unacceptable housing into decent, affordable housing.

Student groups have always been encouraged to raise funds, giving them a sneak-peek into the nonprofit world. We don't want this to stop, however the fundraising requirement is now a thing of the past! So what does this mean? We ask that you still encourage your students to raise funds, and whatever amount you can donate to Habitat will be appreciated!

Your students will be given a hands-on opportunity to put their service into action, helping us to build on several of our work sites throughout Suffolk County.

One of Student Build's primary goals is to educate the younger generation of thinkers and doers about affordable housing needs and the importance of financial stability. We will be able to teach financial literacy to the middle school aged students with the help of some of our bank sponsors.
