Habitat Long Island receives grant from Nissan to purchase Nissan Frontier to support home construction efforts in Suffolk and Nassau counties
Middle Island, NY (July 14, 2025) — Habitat Long Island is excited to announce it received a grant from Nissan to purchase a Nissan Frontier. The funding is part of Nissan’s $1 million national partnership renewal (do not have press release link yet) with Habitat for Humanity International to support local Habitat affiliates across the U.S.
With the Nissan Frontier, Habitat Long Island will be able to continue to build affordable housing on Long Island. Additionally, the truck will be instrumental in restarting the affiliate’s highly anticipated repair program.
“We are incredibly grateful to Nissan for their continued generosity and support,” said Diane Manders, CEO of Habitat Long Island. “The Nissan Frontier will be an invaluable asset as we work to build more affordable homes and revitalize our repair program, ultimately helping more families achieve stability and independence on Long Island.”
Nissan has contributed more than $21 million to Habitat nationally since the partnership began in 2005 when Nissan donated 50 trucks and mobilized employees to assist in home building following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. Nissan has continued its support through the years by donating an additional 163 vehicles to support construction activities and disaster recovery efforts. Furthermore, Nissan’s employees have contributed more than 180,000 volunteer hours working alongside future homeowners in communities across the U.S.
“Habitat for Humanity is committed to direct and meaningful contributions to communities across the country, and these shared values form the foundation of our longstanding and successful partnership,” said Chandra Vassar, Vice President, Chief DEI Officer at Nissan Americas and President of the Nissan Foundation. “For more nearly 20 years, Habitat for Humanity has been one of Nissan’s most valued partners. We hope our continued support will help further Habitat’s mission, encourage giving, and inspire the public to get involved with the local Habitat affiliate in their community.”
